Playa de las Conchas
Playa de las Conchas (Beach of mussels)
This is one of the most remote and unspoiled beach, but getting to Playa de las Conchas isn’t easy. It’s located on the far side of La Graciosa, an islet just off Lanzarote’s north coast, meaning a ferry from the main island and then a 45 minute walk (or 20 minute cycle). Considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the Canaries, the beach’s natural beauty is just stunning, with fine golden sand and turquoise sea. Swimming is dangerous because of strong undercurrents and sometimes very high waves but it is definitely worth a visit and stunning for romantic walks.
Playa del Charco de los Chicos
Playa del Charco de los Clicos is a stunning example of volcanic beachscape. It is a pitch black lava sand beach in the south west of Lanzarote. You cannot get to it or swim here but it has a viewing platform to appreciate this spectacular and curious natural phenomenon. See the green lagoon of "Charco Verde" which provides an impressive contrast to the blue of the ocean and the red rocks of the beach. This colourful nature spectacle is in a crater which is partly submerged in the sea and whose walls have been eroded by wind...definitely well worth a visit.
Playa de Papagayo
Playa de Papagayo comprises a series of beaches separated by volcanic rocks. The main Papagayo beach is the the last one before the Punta del Papagayo, and also the only one with somewhere to eat, you will see a restaurant up on top of the rocks. The sand is fine and golden with lovely clear water that makes for great snorkelling. Thanks to its location at the southern tip of the island, Papagayo usually enjoys the best weather. There is also a large car park with ample parking available.
Caletón Blanco Beach
This is a wonderful, picturesque string of lovely coves in the north of Lanzarote, not far from Órzola, which you can easily reach by road. Caletón Blanco is known for its amazing colour spectacle provided by the black lava rocks, the turquoise Atlantic and the white sand. It is a fairly windy beach, but the water is shallow and calm here, providing ideal swimming conditions. The natural shelters built from lava rocks provide protection to enable you to relax in spite of the strong winds.
Playa de la Cera
Playa de la Cera is one of the six beaches of Papagayo. Its golden sandy area is surrounded by cliffs with many caves, which provide natural shelter from the wind and also offer privacy. As Playa de la Cera is next to the very popular Playa de Papagayo, it can get very busy here in the main season. Paths from the car park lead over the hills to this unspoilt, natural beach. If you like walking, you will really like it here as you can walk from one beach to the next and explore the nature park and beaches.
Playa Mujeres
Playa Mujeres beach is a large, golden sandy beach with crystal clear water and a fascinating landscape. It is surrounded by dunes where you can enjoy complete privacy. On both sides of the beach there are towering rock cliffs from where you have fantastic views. On the right there is also a hiking trail which connects Playa del Afre with the Papagayo beaches.
Playa del Pozo
As Playa del Pozo is one of the Papagayo Beaches, it is not surprising that this unspoilt, natural beach stands out with its golden sand, imposing cliffs and crystal clear water. Naturists especially feel at home here as they can enjoy relaxed sun-bathing and have privacy not only on the spacious sandy area, but also in small caves in the rocks.
Playa Chica
Playa Chica is a one of Lanzarote's smaller beaches but it is also one of the prettiest and most popular in Puerto del Carmen. Sheltered by protrusions of lava, the water is particularly calm, making it very popular with divers exploring the stunning sea beds just off-shore. It is also a great place for snorkeling where you can see some incredible sea-life up close.
Playa de Jabillo
Playa Flamingo
One of the two main beaches in the Playa Blanca resort, Playa Flamingo has fine sand sloping gently into clear waters. Sheltered by two man-made breakwaters, the sea is very calm, making it great for smaller kids, while palm trees provide some shade. There are also several bars and restaurants to escape the sun on the beachfront promenade.
